VINEYARD: Malakoff, Landsborough (Pyrenees) Victoria
WINEMAKING: A single vineyard wine crafted from 100% ‘Best’s Old Block’ clone fruit. Hand-picked in late March and early April, the fruit was fermented in a three small batches to enhance character and complexity. The ferments included 74% whole bunches and 26% destemmed whole berries. The wine was matured in a mixture of new (17%) and older French oak barriques for 12 months before being bottled without filtration.
TASTING NOTE: Deep violet in colour, this wine delivers perfumed aromas of dark berries, tobacco, violets, & white pepper. On the palate there are juicy plums, blackberry bramble, pepper spice, liquorice and some fine tannic grip to give the wine drive and focus.

'It leads with savouriness but the push of berried fruit is substantial. We’re in lovely territory here. It’s all sweet Aussie bush spice, choc-coffee, ripe plum and cherry, with aromatic herb and woodsmoke notes adding nuance to the highlights. Tannin assertive but integrated; length is sound. It’s drinking well now but its best is ahead.'
