VINEYARD: Malakoff Estate, Landsborough, Victorian Pyrenees
WINEMAKING: Single vineyard wine from the acclaimed Malakoff Estate vineyard, located within the rich goldfields of North-Western Victoria. The Best's Old Block clone fruit was picked in late March and transported direct to the winery for fermentation. Fermented wild as 100% whole berries before being pressed to French oak barriques (25% new). Matured for eight months before bottling in December 2021.
TASTING NOTES: Vibrant garnet in colour, this sexy Syrah delivers complex aromas of dark berries, tobacco, violets and white pepper. On the palate there are juicy plums, blackberry bramble, liquorice and some fine tannic grip to give the wine drive and focus.

2021 Fetherston Estate Syrah
'A lifted wild ferment bouquet opens with red currant and fresh strawberry, layered with forest floor, hayseed straw and an incense-like complexity drawn from a subtle sulfide nuance. Liquorice notes add depth and savoury intrigue. Medium-bodied and finely detailed, the palate is supple and composed, echoing the aromatics with gentle, seamless flow. Fine-grained tannins shape the wine without dominance, while a saline edge and mineral line drive the finish. Notes of rhubarb pie glide across the palate, adding savoury length and interest. Slightly feral (which we love) and thoughtfully managed, this is a compelling Syrah that balances nuance with presence, delivering both immediate drinking pleasure and the substance to develop gracefully over time.'

- Russell Gallagher, Vino Masters'A single vineyard wine, fermented wild and matured in French oak (25% new). A medium garnet. Starting to show some secondary aromas with its bouquet of raspberry compote, freshly turned earth, bracken and dried herbs. The palate is mid-weight, well balanced and with gentle tannins.'
